Seven Solo Dates Everyone Should Go On
Call me a minority, but I am completely comfortable being alone. In fact, I prefer it. I love coming home after work and taking time for myself to workout, cook dinner, and relax. I’m usually social at least once a week, but it can get expensive and honestly, exhausting if I do it all the time. I blame it on being a Virgo.
Considering my boyfriend is 1,300 miles away from me, I have to get creative when I want to go on a date. I’ve mastered the art of solo dates in the past year, and I want to share with you some of my favorite ideas. These range from very safe, to just a little risque – but I truly think there’s something for everyone.
Seven Solo Dates
I think the most attainable solo date is taking yourself to the movies. You don’t have to agree on what show you’re going to see, and you get all the snacks to yourself. This is a good way to dip your toes into solo dates because there’s no socialization during movies, and no one can really look at you weird. When I want to really get away from my phone and responsibilities I’ll go to the movies and leave a new woman.
Another solo date that I really enjoy is going to a coffee shop. There’s so much you can do here. I usually work on my blog, journal, look for inspo on Pinterest, or read a book. This is another attainable one because people go to coffee shops to study or work all the time. Everyone there is in their own world, and respect your space. Give me a latte and I’ll be perched here for an entire afternoon.
Something that’s on my bucket list is going to an art museum. There are a couple here in Orlando that I’m so excited to go visit. I can’t imagine anything better than walking around in a hushed museum with historical artwork. You get to take your time, and be alone with your thoughts. I’ll give an update when I cross this one off!
My favorite solo date is going to a farmer’s market or craft sale. I love walking around these with an iced coffee in hand and appreciating the local work being put into growing food and making beautiful art. In my opinion, farmer’s markets are good for the soul; I always leave feeling rejuvenated.
This is a little risque – but I did this when I first moved to Celebration. I really didn’t know anyone yet, and I wanted to try the diner on Market Street. So, I went by myself. They seated me at a little table in the back and I had the best eggs benedict of my life, and sat there by myself. I definitely got a few weird looks, but I didn’t care. That’s when I really realized that I don’t mind being by myself.
Another solo date that’s on my bucket list is doing a paint and sip class. Scott took me to one of these for my 21st birthday, and we had so much fun! To me, drinking wine while painting seems very Parisian for some reason, and I just might break out my beret for this one. I love being creative, and most of my creative energy comes out when I’m alone.
This next one is something I do quite often – explore your own city. I’ve done blog posts on this, and it’s one of my favorite past times. I love this because you don’t have to be on a schedule, you can go anywhere you want, and you find some of your favorite spots this way!
Bonus: Go have a drink at your favorite spot! This could be your local bar, or even just having a glass of wine at home. Celebration has a couple places I always go to when I want to have a Carrie Bradshaw moment.
