Hollywood Studios: What’s Worth It?

I’ll be honest with you, I’m not the biggest fan of Hollywood Studios. I think it’s the least magical, and I feel like I’m at a theme park when I’m there. There are a couple rides there that I totally love, but it’s not a park I get super excited to go to.

That being said, there are definitely a couple gems here that are worth your while. A good thing about Hollywood Studios is you can get through this park pretty quickly. Depending on waits, I could be in and out of this park in just a couple hours. One of my favorite restaurants is here, which is incentive enough to go to this park. I also think this park is worth your while to see Toy Story Land, which just opened this year. It’s super cute and you definitely feel like you’re in the movie.

Slinky Dog Dash

This is the newest attraction at Hollywood Studios and I am in love. It’s so unique and fun for all ages. This rollercoaster is definitely longer than 7 Dwarves Mine Train, but in my opinion is slower than some of the other rides at Walt Disney World. Surprisingly, without a Fastpass the wait for this ride has been no longer than 90 minutes. I know that might sound like a long time, but compared to Avatar Flight of Passage’s 120+ wait, 90 is nothing. What makes this ride special to me is just the atmosphere. Toy Story was one of my favorite movies growing up, so seeing an entire land dedicated to it makes my heart warm and fuzzy. Looking at all the details like ABC blocks, and all the toys, and Andy’s footprint make this place a must see and do.

Grown Up Lemonade

Inside Toy Story Land is a little dining center called Woody’s Lunch Box. You can get your childhood favorites like grilled cheese, tomato soup, tater tots, and homemade “pop tarts.” When I ate here I got the kids grilled cheese meal which includes half a grilled cheese, a side of tater tots, and a tangerine. This is one of the best grilled cheeses I’ve ever had, complete with 3 cheeses, herbs, and buttery bread. I was “that person” who ordered a kids meal with an alcoholic beverage. But, let me just say, this beverage tasted like Kool-ade. The Grown Up Lemonade is made with cherry vodka, lemonade, and black cherry puree. Totally worth the $10.

Sci-fi Diner

I truly mean it when I say that this place is “not your hometown diner.” Step back in time to 1950, when drive in theaters were the place to be on a Friday night, and milkshakes were a food group. When you dine at Sci-fi you are sitting front row (or backseat driver) in your very own convertible. Your entertainment? A big screen playing old time movies. Tired of the movie, feel free to star gaze instead. The atmosphere alone is reason enough to grab a bite to eat here. Another reason? They are famous for their burgers and milkshakes. I got the drive in BBQ burger and could’ve easily split it with another person. I also got the Oreo milkshake, and it was straight up dreamy. Wait times aren’t usually too bad, but to make reservations you might have to plan at least 6 months out.
