Disney Springs: What’s Worth It?

Disney Springs: What’s Worth It?

Disney Springs is the equivalent of a mall. It has retail stores, restaurants, entertainment, anything you could ever want. What I love about it is that it’s a little more “adult friendly” than the parks. You can have a glass of wine at Wine Bar George, or grab a cider at one of the carts and walk around. The energy here is so laid back, sometimes I forget I’m not on vacation.

Disney Springs covers a lot of ground, and if you don’t know where you’re going or what you’re doing it can be daunting. There are hidden gems all around, and if you happen to take the wrong turn you’ll miss them. Not to worry, this guide will hopefully make your explorations of Disney Springs more productive, and more enjoyable.

Wine Bar George

Did I give it away in the introduction? I love this place. It’s fairly new to Disney Springs, and is the perfect spot for grown up company and conversation. This restaurant is a 2 story building with amazing interior design. The menu features 135 wines, all of them discovered by George who just happens to be a Master Sommelier. There are also small bites: I recommend the grilled octopus salad or the big board. For my 2 girlfriends and me we split a bottle of wine and the big board. We were full, and tipsy! The best combination. I also highly recommend the frose. It’s not overly sweet, but very refreshing in 90 degree weather.

House of Blues

House of Blues is not a location that is unique to Florida. In fact, they’re all around the country. But, this is an ode to my mom. She LOVES House of Blues. I’m already planning on eating there when she visits. Their food is to die for. If you choose to sit out on “the front porch” you’ll get serenaded by live music while you have a beer. It’s a really cool atmosphere that transports you straight to Tennessee. The burgers are amazing, and the shrimp po’boy is HUGE. You really can’t go wrong at a place like this.

Blaze Pizza

This is a controversial topic with some of my friends, but I personally thing Blaze Pizza is the best thing to happen to Orlando. Think of it as a Subway for pizza. They have some pizza’s already created for you, but you can build your own for only $10. You go down an assembly line and choose your sauce, cheese(s), meat, veggies, and any other toppings you could want. My tactic is to build something different every time. But if you’re like my mom, you know you want the BBQ chicken pizza with no blue cheese. This place is great if you’re traveling with a large group of people or with some picky eaters.

P.S. If you’re starving you can definitely finish 1 pizza by yourself. If you’re not starving the pizza is super good leftover. The moral of this story is, don’t share your pizza.

Chicken Guy!

The newest addition to Disney Spring’s dining scene is this guy. (Get it?) Guy Fierri has graced us with his presence. At this little place it’s all about the sauce. There are 20, yes, 20 homemade sauces you can try. They range from the classic ranch, to the specialty house sauce. The menu consists of chicken. Chicken sandwiches, chicken strips, chicken salads. My personal favorite is the Big Bite B.L.A.T: chicken, bacon, lettuce, tomato, buttermilk ranch, and avocado crema. I also highly recommend getting the french fries and some chipotle mayo to dip them in.

Boathouse

Eating here isn’t my favorite because I feel it’s overpriced for what you get, and there are better food options in Disney Springs. However, I love the outside bar. Now, it might be because I’ve had excellent service every time I’ve been here, or maybe it’s the atmosphere, but, it’s one of my favorite spots. You have to go through the restaurant to get to the bar, so I feel like it’s almost hidden from the typical crowd. My go to drink is the coconut mojito, it’s just sweet enough to be refreshing and the coconut is just enough to make you think you’re on the beach.

Disney Springs has a lot of great dining options, but these are a must for me. I’m always up to try a new place, but at the end of the day there’s nothing like a coconut mojito, and a custom Blaze Pizza to go.
