Bubble Bubble, Toil and Trouble: Halloween Cocktails
With Halloween quickly approaching it’s time to decide if you are going to continue the tradition of dressing up and getting together with friends, or if you’re going to enjoy the holiday in a more 2020 manner. Whatever you decide, it can still be a festive affair. My favorite way to celebrate any holiday is with a properly themed cocktail. Let me tell you, there are tons of Halloween cocktails out there.
I am far from a mixologist and the most complicated cocktail I’ve ever made is a margarita. That being said, I turned to Pinterest to lead me in the right direction. I ended up finding several cocktails that sounded up my alley and I have a top 3. In third place is an iced cinnamon whiskey chai found on Vegan Yack Attack. Second place is a fig dark and stormy from Half Baked Harvest. In first place is the Deathly Hallows cocktail, also from Half Baked Harvest.

Cinnamon Whiskey Chai
I believe that everyone has an alcohol they don’t particularly like. For me it’s cinnamon whiskey. However, I’m a big fan of chai which has a pretty strong flavor profile. I decided to give this recipe a go, and I’m so glad I did! The whiskey wasn’t super strong and it honestly just tasted like a chai latte, which can be dangerous. As a fun touch I rimmed my glass with maple syrup and dipped it in cinnamon & sugar. I garnished with star anise and cinnamon sticks and both Scott and I agreed we would make this again! You can find the recipe here.

Fig Dark and Stormy
This was a completely off the wall choice for me. I’ve never had a fig and I’m not the biggest rum drinker. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the combination & how aesthetic figs are. The fig jam makes this cocktail pretty sweet, so in future I think I would use less of it. I’m definitely intrigued in trying more cocktails that use dark rum as the liquor. Deathly Hallows Cocktail
I’m the biggest Harry Potter nerd. I know an unnecessary amount of information on the series and while I believe Harry Potter is appropriate to watch during any season, you gotta love them a little more during spooky season. When I saw a HP cocktail I was so excited and mannnnnn is it good! I love tequila cocktails and this one is definitely one I’ll be making again and again. The cranberry brings a nice bitterness & the ginger beer is a sweet kick. You can find this recipe by following this link.
