Unique Valentine’s Day Ideas

Unique Valentine’s Day Ideas

Over the years, I’ve learned that Valentine’s Day is like cilantro. People either love it or hate it; there isn’t really an in-between. I personally love any excuse to tell my loved ones how much they mean to me. Even when I wasn’t in a relationship I would send cards to my girlfriends and treat myself to flowers. Scott and I have been together for 4 Valentine’s Days, and it can be difficult to find new ways to keep a holiday that’s all about love feeling fresh and new. This year, instead of sharing a post about pink outfits or red lips (which you’ll find on my Instagram), I wanted to share some of the unique ideas I had for a Valentine’s date night that are a little outside the box.

Embrace Your Inner Chef

Cooking at home can be super romantic, but then you have to worry about the clean up, which in my opinion isn’t so romantic. Why not go somewhere to learn a new dish, and not have to worry about the non-romantic side of things? Scott and I have always wanted to learn how to make fresh pasta, so in December for Scott’s birthday I bought us a cooking class. We learned how to make authentic pasta & chicken parmigiana. The experience was so much more than I imagined it would be. We split a bottle of wine during the class, got to eat our delicious creation, and let me tell you: kneading fresh pasta in a cramped kitchen space is every bit romantic as it sounds.

If you’re in the Milwaukee area you can sign up for cooking classes at the following:

Sharing is Caring

What’s more romantic than sharing delicious food with your partner? This year, Scott and I are going to a tapas restaurant for V-day. Tapas are traditionally Spanish style small plates that are meant to be shared with everyone at your table, however you will find other cuisines copying the tapas style. Not only is the idea of sharing these small plates romantic, but tapas also allow you to try a variety of different foods and flavors. I find that I always venture out of my culinary box at tapas restaurants.

Another romantic idea which is similar to tapas is going to a restaurant that features a tasting menu. A tasting menu is small multiple courses, sometimes with wine pairings. What I really love about both of these options is you won’t leave the restaurant overly full. You’ll still have room for dessert at home, or a nightcap.

Time Travel

Recreate your first date! Even if you no longer live in the same town or state, it’s a cute way to celebrate your love and journey. Scott and I had our first date at a seafood restaurant on the river in Dubuque, Iowa. That would be really easy to recreate here in Milwaukee. This would also be a great time to go through all your old pictures and videos together and reminisce on how far you’ve come as a couple.

I hope all of you have an incredible Valentine’s Day, no matter your situation. It’s also the perfect day for treating yourself to your local bakery and a bubble bath. I’m sending my love to each one of you this V-day! XO
