Small Space, Big Statement with Desenio

Small Space, Big Statement with Desenio

Moving into Scott’s house was a surprisingly easy transition. Because I’m a planner I already knew where most of my furniture and decor was going. At the end of the move, the office and bedrooms had an extreme transformation, while some rooms were left rather untouched. As I started adding my personal touch to our main level I found myself leaving one door closed: the powder room.

I’ve always loved bathrooms. As a kid I would ask my mom at every department store if I could go to the bathroom. I think it’s because the bathrooms at Von Maur were so luxurious. But now, bathrooms are small spaces which makes them easy to decorate. However, our powder room in particular proved to be quite a challenge until I found Desenio.

In my tiny bathroom, I was missing a POP. Something that looked as elegant and mid-century as the rest of the house.

Bringing a Room Back to Life with Desenio

Desenio has thousands of prints to filter through. Everything from vintage movie posters and fashion illustrations to florals and photography. Whenever I’m out thrifting I’ll come across an item and my heart will skip a beat. That’s what happened when I found the Elegant Flight print. Between it’s blue and gold coloring and it’s mid-century design I fell in love. It was the poster to beat. (Spoiler: nothing beat it.)

Against the tan walls of the powder room, this print brought a small forgotten room back to life. I completed the bathroom with a vintage brass candle holder, a navy blue candle, and a vintage swung glass vase filled with wheat to mimic the blowing grasses in the poster. The door to this room remains open now that it ties in with the rest of the decor.
